Short description:
The URBAN-ROOTs project is designed to address the critical needs of sustainable urban development and education through few well-structured working packages:
- Urban Regeneration Planning for Abandoned/Underused Urban Spaces:
This working package addresses the need for sustainable urban regeneration by analyzing existing policies and identifying barriers in partner countries. It involves sharing and gathering best practices on green urban actions and developing a digital handbook on Sustainable Urbanism. Training modules and materials on urban gardening, gardening techniques, social entrepreneurship, and inclusive urban gardening will be created. This WP also emphasizes the recognition of the Sustainable Development Goals.
- Development of Digital Tools and Platforms:
This working package aims to develop a user-friendly digital platform integrated into the project website, focusing on bridging the gap between digital innovation and sustainable urbanism. The platform will provide comprehensive information, facilitate price sharing and feedback, incorporate real-time environmental monitoring, and offer personalized plant care reminders, gardening tips, gamified challenges, and tools for location identification and eco-friendly solutions.
- Training and Dissemination:
Providing hands-on training in urban gardening techniques through virtual workshops and disseminating knowledge and project outcomes. It aims to promote using digital tools and materials to increase access to educational resources on sustainable urbanism. Also, it involves conducting LTTA to equip participants with the skills needed for the green economy.
